Swim Meet

We had a good meet on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who stepped in and helped cover open volunteer shifts! We really appreciated it! Thank you to everyone for helping make the meet run smoothly, we ended 30 minutes ahead of schedule!

Volunteering:

Please remember that volunteering is a mandatory part of every swim meet. It takes more than 80 volunteer positions to run a successful meet, and with 85 families on our team, every family is expected to help and it was part of the agreements signed in registration.

A huge thank you to everyone who consistently steps up to volunteer and to those who take on two volunteer shifts during a meet. Your support makes a tremendous difference.

We currently have a few volunteer positions still needing coverage for Champs. The sign-up has now been closed so I can submit our finalized volunteer list to the league. If your family has not yet signed up for a volunteer position, please contact me directly, and I will assign you to an available volunteer shift. I will also reach out to families that don’t have a volunteer position.

Coaches Gifts:

Fiona Marshall is once again working her magic to create coaches' gifts. Thank you to those who have already contributed! If you missed her message in WhatsApp here it is again:

Coaches gifts are in process and it would be great if everyone can contribute. This year is a little different with our 25 jr. coaches and our 4 main coaches. Champs Swim meet 7/18

Clerk of the Course at Champs- MUST READ

• We are at Leigh High school this year! 5210 Leigh Ave, San Jose, CA 95124

• ALL swimmers MUST check in by 7:15 No exceptions. THIS IS A CHANGE DUE TO THE SIZE OF THIS MEET
• ALL swimmers MUST warm up 7:40-8:00. This is key. It is a larger pool and the younger ones need to get used to it. All swimmers should do their stroke count for backstroke to make sure they have it correct for this pool.
• This is a long day and we need everyone’s help to make it successful. Please bring a lot of water and healthy snacks for your swimmers. There will be food trucks available. 9 food trucks, one with breakfast items, 2 have cold treats. There will also be a farmers market happening in the parking lot.
• Bathrooms are available, but locker rooms are off limits.
• We will have 20 yards of space on the blacktop behind the pool for our easy ups. Please share with multiple families so we all can fit. We believe the space should hold easy ups 2 x 10 so 20 in total. See map below.
• Clerk of the Course Rules:

1. No Big Buddies or parents in the queue
2. No yelling or chants
3. No standing on benches
4. Minimal amount of items allowed at clerk of the course (water/drink and towel/parka). No sandals, food/snacks.
5. Coaches and Jr. Coaches should help monitor and manage swimmers
