FAQ's
We will have a Dive Off meeting prior to the season starting so that we can answer any other questions you might have.
How long is the season?
Practice typically starts mid May and goes till mid July. We have a time trial meet the end of May, and then 5 dual meets on Saturdays and culminating with a league Champs meet in mid July. We do honor 4th of July with no meet on that Saturday.
How often is practice?
We hold practice 5 days a week, afternoons while school is in session, and mornings when school is finished. See our practice schedule for exact times.
What age group will my child swim in?
Your child's age on June 1st determines their age group for the season.
What does practice consist of?
Swimmers are required to be water safe and able to swim the 25 yard length of the pool prior to being on the team. 6 and unders will have jr. coaches in the water with them for the first month to help support with their stamina and swim technique. We require that an adult stay on deck if they have a 6 and under swimmer. Practice consists of stroke technique, distance and sprint work, starts and turns.
Are parents allowed at practices?
Yes! This is a great time to socialize with other parents and watch your child's swimming improve. We ask that you do not disrupt/interrupt swimmers or coaches during practice. The coaches need to keep their eyes on the swimmers for safety as well as for coaching.
Can my kids swim in the baby pool?
Siblings not on the swim team are not allowed in the baby pool, or big pool during practice. NO swimmers are allowed in the baby pool at anytime.
Does my child have to wear a team swimsuit?
A team swimsuit is not required but builds team camaraderie and enables the coaches to more easily identify swimmers are large meets. Goggles are highly recommended and caps are advisable as well. Swimmers must wear USA swimming approved suits. This means only 1 swimsuit, no swim shirts, men can't have a suit above the navel, or below the knees, and women can't have suits that cover the neck, extend past the shoulder, or go below the knee.
How often are meets and how long do they last?
Meets are on Saturdays, sometimes they are at home, and others are away. We will have 5 dual meets, 1 time trial meet, and 1 champs meet. Meets typically start at 8:30 and go until about 1:00. Swimmers, parents, and volunteers are asked to be at the pool by 7:00 for check in, warm ups, and volunteer training. See tab Meets and Events- Swim Meet 101 -for more information
Do I need to volunteer?
Yes, every family needs to volunteer at every meet. We have so many jobs to fill in order to run a fast and smooth meet. If you do not volunteer at the meets your swimmer will not be eligible to be on the team. This was something you signed in your registration packet. If you do not show up to volunteer at a swim meet your child will be scratched from the meet prior to it starting. Volunteer check in for both 1st and 2nd shifts are from 7-8:00.
