Event Descriptions
Buddy Meet and Greet-Family dinner and Free Swim-
Picture Day and Rootbeer floats-Swimmers will take individual and/or buddy pictures as well as a team photo. All swimmers should be in their team suit. Swimmers will get a team photo with their individual photo and a button. this is included in your swim registration fee. If you want to order more photos you will be able to do so. Rootbeer floats will be provided for the swimmers after photos.
Pancake Breakfast and Free Swim- This is a fun event where swimmers will enjoy a pancake breakfast along with free swim. We ask that families help donate items to the breakfast. Sign up will be linked to the event as it gets closer.
Golfland- We meet up to play golf and use the waterslides.
Movie Night- A parent helps plan, supply, and organize a movie at the pool.
Taco Party/Glow Party-A parent helps plan, and organize a taco truck to come to the pool, glow party activities, and other games.
Tie Dye- bring your own white 100% cotton shirt with your name written on the tag in sharpie. We will soak it while you are at practice. After practice you will come over and tie-dye your shirt. You will take it home with directions and a solution to wash it in.
Cardboard Boat Regatta -Bring your own dinner, and cardboard boat to race!
Swimmers are encouraged to team up with their friends to construct a sea-worthy vessel using only cardboard, duct tape, and paint.
Depending on the number of entries, there may be several heats to determine the overall champion.
Please be prepared to take home the remains of any boats that you bring. There is not enough room in the Oaktree dumpster for all the soggy shipwrecks! We will have bags for you to put your soggy boats in to take home.
- Boats will be raced in the pool. Each heat will be 25 yards. Depending on the number of entries, your boat may have to survive multiple heats.
- Boats must be human-powered. There is no limit to the number of crew members on each boat.
- Materials allowed:
- Cardboard or paper (no plastic, waxed cardboard, or waterproof cardboard)
- Duct tape, or any type of packaging tape
- Adhesive products such as Liquid Nails for gluing the boat together
- Water- or acrylic-based paint
- Paddles are allowed but must also be made out of cardboard and duct tape.
- Please take home the remains of your boat at the end of the races!
Pizza Party and Free Swim-We will provide pizza to the team and they will enjoy free swim.
Pasta Feed- A parent organizes the pasta feed potluck for the team. We enjoy carbo loading prior to champs along with a cookie baking contest.
Funny Awards- Coaches pass out awards to swimmers that go along with a funny story from the season. Parents are invited to come!
Awards Night-We celebrate all the accomplishments of our swimmers. Swimmers get a trophy, ribbons and awards from Champs, and a list of all their swim times from the season. We enjoy a slideshow of the team and dessert provided by the team. Families bring their own picnic dinners. We will of course also thank and celebrate our coaches!
