TODAY! Picture Day Sunday June 11th-Flyer is attached. All swimmers will get a memory mate that has the team picture and individual picture along with 1 button. If you want other pictures you can use the flyer to purchase more.

Great meet yesterday! Although we did loose, I don't think I have seen a meet so close! 108.6 to 108.9 Every improved time does really matter! As soon as we get the meet times from Belwood I will post them at the pool and on Swimtopia.
Remember on Mondays AFTER practice your child can get their ribbons and a lollipop for every improved time! B/C of Pancake breakfast tomorrow we will do ribbons and lollipops on Tuesday at our first morning practice.

We will move to morning practice times this week! No practice Monday b/c of pancake breakfast.
8:15-9:15-6u and 7/8 9:15-10:15 9/10 and 11/12 10:15-11:45 13/14 and 15/18Upcoming Meet: June 17th meet away at Los Paseos-Volunteer sign ups and Meet RSVP- Volunteer spots are open for the 6/17 meet. Everyone needs to sign up and RSVP! Sign ups and volunteer spots close Tuesday! If you did not RSVP by Tuesday night you will not be entered in the meet and will not be able to swim. Thank you! I won't be sending out reminders going forward.
Los Paseos (LPAC)
Important: Los Paseos meet starts early at 8:00am Check in closes at 7:15
- Team Check-In: 6:45 am
- OaktreeTeam Warm-Ups: 7:15 – 7:35 am
- Check in closes at 7:15- if your swimmer is not checked in they will be scratched from the meet
- Timers and Recorders report at 7:40 am for training
- Meet starts at 8:00 am
- Meet finishes around 1:30 pm
Los Paseos (LPAC) – 7047 Via Ramada San Jose “PENGUINS”
- Take highway 85 south, exit at Bernal Ave. Turn right on Bernal Ave. Turn left on ViaDel Oro and then right on Via Ramada and pool is on right side.
- You’ll find ample parking around the neighborhood. Note that parking is not allowed at the church next to the pool; any cars parked there may be towed.
- Park in the small parking lot, or on the street. Large grass area and some shade. Plenty of room for canopies.
- Snack Bar has an assortment of breakfast and lunch items. Famous for breakfast burritos and tri-tip sandwiches.
- Pool has 4 lanes (middle lane is obstructed due to the diving board). Team has 135-150 swimmers.
Upcoming Events:
June 12th Pancake Breakfast Get ready to kick off summer practice with our Annual Oaktree Pancake Breakfast. Join us next Monday, June 12th, from 10am to noon, for breakfast and open swim. Please RSVP through Swimtopia. $8 per person can be paid via Venmo ahead of time, or cash/Venmo at the door. Don’t forget to check the volunteer sign-up: We are still in need of griddles, volunteer chefs and some food items.
June 14th Beach Day 1:00-4:00 Come join us for a fun day on the beach at Twin Lakes Beach. Bring your own food and beach equipment. We will all meet to hang out together. Come whenever it works for you! Meet near the Crows Nest side of the beach. Call or text Carrie if you can't find them at 913-220-7727
June 16th Tie Dye. Bring your own white cotton shirt with your name in sharpie on the inside collar. It is $10 per person for tie dye supplies and decal for the back. The swimmers will bring their shirts during practice on Friday 6/16 to dye. They bring it prior to their practice, put it into the bucket of pre dye solution and then go to practice. After practice they come back to dye it. They will then take home the shirt for you to rinse and wash. All directions will be sent home. Your swimmer will return their shirt on Friday 6/23 to have the decal hot pressed on while they are at practice!
June 20th Elemental movie tickets are on sale. Tuesday, June 20th for the 3:30 movie. Go ahead and buy your tickets! Link to purchase tickets for the 3:30 showing
June 22nd Cardboard Boat Races 5-7pm
-Swimmers are encouraged to team up with their friends to construct a sea-worthy vessel using only cardboard, and duct tape.
-Depending on the number of entries, there may be several heats to determine the overall champion.
There will be 3 categories to enter, you can make a boat in each category you'd like. Sign ups for the categories will be at the pool on Monday.
-Construct it individually
-Construct it with your Oaktree Swim Team big and little buddy
-Construct it with a group of friends (non buddy)
-Bring your own dinner, and cardboard boat to race!
-Please be prepared to take home the remains of any boats that you bring. There is not enough room in the Oaktree dumpster for all the soggy shipwrecks! We will have bags for you to put your soggy boats in to take home.
GUIDELINES:
- Boats will be raced in the pool. Each heat will be 25 yards. Depending on the number of entries, your boat may have to survive multiple heats.
- Boats must be human-powered. There is no limit to the number of crew members on each boat.
- Materials allowed:
- Cardboard or paper (no plastic, waxed cardboard, or waterproof cardboard)
- Duct tape
- Paddles are allowed but must also be made out of cardboard and duct tape.
- Please take home the remains of your boat at the end of the races!
June 27th Santa Cruz Boardwalk night. Tuesdays are bring a friend for free with a pass. 5-8:00
